We’d like to thank Mini Babybel® for sending us a Weekend Family Fun Pack and inspiring this super fun post. As always, all opinions shared here are my own.
It can be far too easy to spend cold winter or rainy days inside in front of the television and that’s okay sometimes but even on cold days you can have lots of family fun and build lots of great memories with your children.
As my kids have grown it’s been hard to find things that the whole family can do together since there’s such a big age difference between my children (15 and 9). With a little creativity we’ve found ways to make it work.
We started our own weekend adventure of family fun by building a fort. We used the fort building and construction kit from Discovery Kids which is perfect for building blanket forts. My son and I had a wonderful time building together and laughing at each other when we put the pieces together wrong. We decided our super cool fort should have a pirate theme so we brought in his pirate chest, his pillow, and some adventure books for a little quiet reading time. We attached some battery operated string lights that we found at Walmart in the event section and they light up the fort perfectly.
We decided to take a little break from being stuck in the house and we headed to the movie theater to go see Kung Fu Panda 3. It was a great movie and we all really enjoyed it. If you haven’t seen it already and you liked the first two, I think you’ll love this one just as much if not more.
When we got back home we had a little pre-dinner snack and played Sorry! one of my favorite board games. We decided it should be called the “sorry, not sorry” game because my daughter kicked our behinds and she wasn’t the least bit sorry.
Mini Babybel cheeses make a great snack and they’re also great for adding to children’s school lunches. I pack Mini Babybel cheese for my son rather often. There’s something oddly satisfying about pulling the little red-wax-wrapped packaging off of the cheese so they’re fun to eat. They also taste great because they’re 100% natural cheese so they’re rich and creamy and even the pickiest of eaters won’t complain. They’re convenient, fun to eat, and packed with 4 grams of protein and 15% of your daily calcium needs and all 7 of the different flavors of Mini Babybel are only 70 calories or less. These are great served with fruit and crackers.
What kind of family fun do you enjoy with your children on the weekends?
